Free eBooks - International Sale - March 3-9, 2019

FREE International EBOOKS SALE for
"Read an eBook Week"

Most authors read books by other authors. If fact, pretty much all writers and authors started out by reading. As much as I continue to write, I still read! So, when I see the opportunity to build up my library of eBooks at no cost, I take it.

The annual "Read an eBook Week" promotion is a great time to find Free eBooks for Young Adults (and any other eBooks, including books under the Coming of Age genre).

Many authors - including me - have joined this sale, so there is a great selection and it's a great opportunity to fill up your reading device.  Smashwords' eBooks are available in all formats, for Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Android app for Tab or smartphone; and thousands of books are on sale at Smashwords.  But, this is a limited time offer for one week only, March 3-9, 2019, (11:59 pm, 23.59 PDT (07:00 GMT March 10) so don't delay.

INTERNATIONAL - NO WORRIES ABOUT REGIONS

And one more thing... on Smashwords, there's no worry about region, or country, or location when you get these books for free.  Unlike Amazon, or Apple, or most of the others, you 'purchase' these free Smashwords books anywhere. In fact, I know from my sales reports that the readers of my seven books (all available on Smashwords) are from around the world.

If you chose to pick up some of my books for free, that's great. It's all about reading, whether my books or other authors' books.

Happy Reading,

Wil

The month of July is pretty much the best month of 2017 to find Free eBooks for Young Adults (and any other eBooks, including books under the Coming of Age genre). That's because Smashwords is holding their annual Summer / Winter sale (the winter part is for those 'down under').

Many authors have joined this sale, so there is a great selection and it's a great opportunity to fill up your reading device.  Smashwords' eBooks are available in all formats, for Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Android app for Tab or smartphone; and thousands of books are on sale at Smashwords.  But, this is a limited time offer, and it ends on July 31st, (11:59 pm, 23.59 PDT (07:00 GMT Aug 1st) so don't delay.

I really want to share my work, and so I have added all seven of my YA Novels to this sale, and have priced them all Free! So, please enjoy your summer (or winter), and happy reading.

Getting it right...and making mistakes - - thoughts for every day of the year.

Getting is right almost always starts with getting it wrong.  Unless we put ourselves or someone else into danger, the only bad thing about making mistakes is failing to try again.  And again.  And again.  And as many times as it takes to get it right.

That process, of trying it over and over until it works, has been my mantra in life, and in writing.  How many times have we said, or heard, ‘we learn from our mistakes,’ or perhaps, if we’re lucky, ‘we learn from the mistakes of others.’

In life, I've seen many people who claim that they won't try something because they can't do it right. Sadly, they end up not doing something that might have brought them joy, or fulfillment,  or a feeling of achievement, or the belief that they might have made an impact, or, perhaps, a sense of peace.

As a writer, I often read, to see what others are writing.  I read what is selling and I read what is getting good reviews.  I also read what is new, or does not have good reviews, or what might not be selling, yet.  I read what appeals to me.  This is how I learn from others’ mistakes, and successes.

As I writer, I look at my own work.  I put my work out there.  I see which of my books sell, and which of them earn good reviews.  This is how I learn from my own mistakes, and possibly, from my own successes.

Getting it right, as an author, can be a long process.  It almost certainly very unlikely that the first novel we write is going to be a great success.  Almost any author will tell you that they did a lot of writing before they ended up with a work that they were happy with, or that sold well, or that got good reviews.  But, the key is to keep trying.  That means to keep writing.

In my case, I write because I want to write. I write because I need to write. I write what I want to write.  I write for myself.  But; I share my writing in the hope that some will like it, and perhaps, the hope that I might somehow tell a story that will have an impact.

But, most importantly, I realize that it’s okay to get it wrong, if I keep trying to get it right.

It's about time for one of my favorite weeks of the year. Read an eBook Week is the one of two times each year when I have a look at a huge number of Free eBooks, and discover new authors, or new books by some authors I may have already found.

Most importantly, Smashwords has worldwide coverage, with no regional or country restrictions.

Sons and Brothers in Seattle, and all of my own books will be Free during Read an eBook Week, so if you've been waiting to read them, act now!

Free eBooks for Young Adults

Looking for Free eBooks for Young Adults? In January 2010, I started another blog, entitled Free eBooks for Young Adults, with occasional assistance from another Smashwords author.  I've listed over 170 free eBooks.  I have read most (and at least looked at the rest) of the books I've listed, and there are truly some gems among them. I would not hesitate to recommend any of the books I've listed.
I hope the blog has helped many readers find books by my fellow YA authors. What I do know is that the blog has been viewed more than 40,000 times.

There are many, many good reads for Young Adults out there, and there are more free today than ever.  I will continue to search them out, and list them at Free eBooks for Young Adults.

Free eBooks for Read an eBook Week (update 3/3/13)

It's Read an eBook Week, and it's become one of my favorite weeks of the year.  The history of the week is well described in today's Smashwords Blog post by Mark Coker, and I find it interesting that is was started by a grandmother in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

As a reader, I like being able to find new authors and new books, and with so many of them being reduced in price or even free, it's like being able to browse for days in a book store and walk out with a ton of new books to read.  Update 3/3/13... you can find the listings for Free eBooks here!

As an author, I've found Read an eBook Week to be exciting as I add up the numbers of new readers who have found my books, particularly at Smashwords.  I have always made my books part of the Smashwords promotion of Read an eBook Week, and I'll be doing it again for the fourth year.  Let the week begin!

And, now, here's a Free eBook to get the week started a bit early, and to keep things going after the week's specials. This free eBook is a previous best seller at Smashwords: Sons and Brothers in Seattle, a book about a young man fighting to protect his sons and a younger brother from abusive family members. It's free until March 31st by using this coupon code (TB77N), at the Smashwords online store.

Happy Reading,

I hope the blog has helped many readers find books by my fellow YA authors. There are many, many good reads for Young Adults out there, and lots are available free.  I will continue to search them out, and list them at Free eBooks for Young Adults.

Finding Free eBooks for Young Adults during Read an eBook Week

This is absolutely the best week of the year to find Free eBooks for Young Adults, but it all ends on MARCH 10th.  It's a perfect time to put a few extra books into the digital library, and I always load up my laptop (and now my new Tab) with eBooks to keep me going for months or longer.  It's time for the annual Read an eBook Week promotions, and there are Free eBooks all over the place.  Sometimes, however, it's just hard to find them.
Repeating the successful link from last year, the blog Free eBooks for Young Adults has sorted out all the free eBooks for Young Adults on Smashwords.  I know I'll be checking the link at least twice.  Had a look first time on March 4th and I'll check again on March 10th, just to make sure I haven't missed any great reads that are free for Read an eBook Week.
Most importantly, joining the hundreds (if not thousands) of books available FREE this week are five of my YA fiction titles, starting with my brand new:

Zac and the Reluctant Prince, Book 1 of the PrinceDavid series, a contemporary story about keeping friendships, seeking adventure, overcoming challenges, and making history.

Playing the Baseball Card, a book that has kept a top 1% sales rank at B&N for over a year, and has been reviewed as 'very inspiring'

Aiden's Arrival: Honor BeforeGold, a book that made it into the second round of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award in 2011

Robert's Ride , a short novel about the challenges facing a young adoptee

And finally, a book I consider my favorite, and a book that sat at #1 best seller for YA at Smashwords for two months, Sons andBrothers in Seattle

Happy Reading,

Free eBooks for Young Adults

When I started my first blog, The Thoughts of Wilson James, author, at the end of 2009, I wasn't sure what I'd write in my blog, just that I needed to have some additional online presence for my eBooks at Smashwords, and elsewhere. I'd read that it was a marketing necessity, and considered that it would be a good idea. So, I got started. I've blogged about many things, but a recurring theme has been pieces about successful, courageous, tenacious, and determined young people and point out that they inspire me to write some of my Young Adult fiction. In turn, some reviewers have said that my fiction is 'very inspiring.'
In any event, I've enjoyed being able to reach out with this blog, and now, after 101 posts, the number of views is approaching 5,000. I'm pleased with that.

Over a year ago, I got going with Twitter, @WilJames_author, and I've had a lot of fun with that, in addition to noting an uptick in visits to my blog and a slight increase in sales and downloads attributable to my almost 1,000 tweets.

In January 2010, I started another blog, entitled Free eBooks for Young Adults, with occasional assistance from another Smashwords author.  I've listed over 80 free eBooks, and the number of views for that blog is now over 5,000.  (UPDATE: Feb. 23rd...now over 6,000.) I'm really pleased with that, and I hope the blog has helped many readers find books by my fellow YA authors. There are many, many good reads for Young Adults out there, and lots are available free.  I will continue to search them out, and take them to my other blog, Free eBooks for Young Adults.

Happy Reading,
